International Youth Federation announces HRH Princess Basmah bint Saud as Honorary President 

Gomel, Belarus:  In a statement issued today by the Executive Board, The International Youth Federation appointed Her Royal Highness Princess Basmah bint Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Honorary President.

“We are delighted to have Her Royal Highness Princess Basmah as our Honorary President as she has been a longtime supporter for the youth, humanitarian and international development issues. This is a great honour for us and for the youth and I’m certain that the patronage of The HRH Princess Basmah will be a tremendous bonus to all involved in the IYF.” said Krystel SANEH, President of International Youth Federation.

“Her Royal Highness strong character and her deep understanding of the global challenges which faces our today’s world made her in the forefront of the efforts to make the world better place for youth, for the people and the planet.” said Ambassador Saeed ZAKI, Secretary General of The International Youth Federation.

About her appointment, HRH Basmah said: “I am delighted to become associated with the International Youth Federation. I truly believe that in these difficult times, empowering youth for a better world is the way forward. The world needs evolution, not revolution. Sustainable development and global stability will only come through developing our youth to lead us into the future.”


About HRH Princess Basmah bint Saud

Her Royal Highness Princess Basmah bint Saud bin Abdulaziz al Saud was born on 1 March, 1964 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 1984, she received BSc (Hons) Degree in Sociology from the National American University, then in 1986, went on to achieve MSc Degree in Social Economics and Political Science.

During her time in London, Her Royal Highness established a global humanitarian foundation, The Lanterns, which brings together the most important international figures from each intellectual, social, economic and scientific field and acts as a platform for global partnerships. In 2006, she started writing humanitarian and social affairs articles for the newspapers, exceeds 500 articles. She has also published a lot of researches projects.

HRH Princess Basmah is very active on the international presence, as she participated in many international conferences, seminars and workshops around various topics including women empowerment, policies, human rights and economics. Also HRH was a guest of honour at the North-South prize of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
