IYF Governance

As a world governing body, IYF must full fill numerous different requirements. We are committed to the principles of good governance, transparency and zero tolerance towards any wrongdoing in any context. The IYF has adapted its structures and procedures in order to meet the evolving needs of the federation’s governance and respond to the increasing complexity of its functions and operations.

The IYF President holds the highest office at IYF. She/he is elected for four years by The IYF congress which consists of IYF members. The IYF President’s rights and duties are set forth in the IYF Statutes.

According to the statutes, the IYF Congress is the organization’s supreme body. Numerous articles dictate which items are to be discussed and which decisions are to be passed at this forum as the legislative body of the IYF.

As the world governing body, IYF must take into account a wide range of developments and other factors and decide on numerous issues in accordance with the IYF Statutes and regulations. The strategy is determined by the IYF Executive Board chaired by the IYF President, a forum where senior officials can directly influence the decision-making process since each has its own representation under the IYF Statutes. The executive’s decisions are guided by the recommendations of six commissions.

Under the Executive Board comes the professional IYF commissions as administration level to implements the decisions passed by the IYF Congress through the Executive Board. Read more about IYF Commissions here.
