Nepal gained membership of the International Youth Federation

Gomel, Belarus:  In a statement issued today, the Executive Board announced that Nepal has gained the permanent membership of the International Youth Federation. 

The definition of ‘youth’ varies across the globe; in Nepal, the population in the age group 15–29 years is considered youth. Following this definition, 26% of all people were youth in 2008, making up nearly half of the economically active population. In 2011, 28 percent of the total population of Nepal are in the age group defined as youth, 54% of whom are girls and women.

IYF will be working in Nepal to encourage employment promotion and outlined a strategy for training programmes on vocational skills development.

Mr. Deepak Bashyal is young Nepali citizen with successful track record as a Senior NGO Professional with rich experience, in policy level advocacy/campaigning to ensure the rights of the child in lining with UN CRC, empower the youth and women for the sustainable development.
During his stint career, he has gained invaluable experience in capacity development, child protection and sponsorship, livelihood & economic security, women empowerment, social inclusion, education, youth economic growth, disaster risk reduction, water & sanitation and resource mobilization. Also he is fully acquainted with the theoretical concepts of decentralization, local governance and their relation with development paradigms particularly in the context of Nepal.
