London, United Kingdom: His Excellency Ambassador Saeed ZAKI, Secretary-General of the International Youth Federation, met in Dubai yesterday with Eng. Mohamed Al Shatri, IYF Representative in the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of Ms. Ebtihal Alkanzy, Special Regional Coordinator in the Middle East.
During the meeting, a number of initiatives, activities and projects aimed at empowering Arab and Emirati youth in particular were reviewed. The plans discussed focused greatly on enhancing youth empowerment strategies in order to achieve Arab youth’s aspirations and hopes of attaining prosperity and stability.
Al Shatri praised the fruitful efforts exerted by the International Youth Federation at the regional and international levels in various forums, he commended the federation’s continuous efforts in promoting youth development and in supporting the achievement of sustainable development by empowering youth through volunteerism and civic participation.
Correspondingly, the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the UAE's continuous efforts in supporting all endeavors and initiatives aimed at promoting youth leadership in all sectors, which reflects the UAE's keenness to provide more opportunities for young people, both male and female, and shows the country’s acknowledgement of youth as active participants in the development of the country and the world.
